Investigative Reporter, The Howard Center for Investigative Journalism, College Park, MD ~ January 2021 – present

Works 16 hours a week reporting on gaps in state and federal regulations that endangered worker safety and health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Special Projects Editor, The Diamondback, College Park, MD ~ August 2018 – December 2020

Spearheaded investigative and in-depth reporting work for the campus newspaper, coordinating with reporters, photographers and web developers for long term projects. Former assistant news editor, editor of the 2020 welcome back tabloid edition and copy editor. Covered campus and local politics, interviewing the university president weekly ahead of the administration’s transition into the coronavirus pandemic.

Editorial Intern, International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, Washington, D.C. ~ June – August 2020

Published a three month long project on ICE’s use of solitary confinement to medically isolate sick detainees during COVID-19. Extracted data, created website content and drafted social media posts for this collaborative nonprofit organization, contributing to their global #FinCENFiles investigation as an Emma Bowen Foundation Fellow.

Student Project Member, National Association of Hispanic Journalists ~ June – August 2020

Contributed content to the association’s independent newsite, The Latino Reporter, which covers the association and issues pertaining to its members over the course of the annual conference. Investigated the cancellation of the association’s elections, and wrote features about Afro-Latinx content creators and the conference’s virtual festivities.

Communications Intern, Voto Latino, Washington, D.C. ~ June – August 2019

Drafted press releases, wrote media memos, created press lists and updated website copy, among other tasks, to increase outreach for this non-profit promoting Latino voter registration.
